Pharrell Williams Louis Vuitton: Another Creative Era Begins.. Now!
The sneaker culture is a strange one fam. But the strangeness of 2023 be hitting different. We’re still halfway through February and Nike already sued Bape and Lululemon. Nike’s AIR movie is on the way. And Adidas can’t seem to pull outta the shithole it dug itself after terminating its Yeezy partnership. In fact, Yeezy’s leftover stock is the main blow Adidas’ share prices took. But as we said, that blow was the main one. Adidas got much more crap on its plate at the moment. Question is, now that Pharrell Williams Louis Vuitton is a thing, will it affect Adidas in any way? No idea what we’re saying here? Well, Pharrell Williams will take the renowned Virgil Abloh’s place as Louis Vuitton’s new Men’s Creative Director! Let’s see what this is all about and how it can affect the Three Stripes!
Before we get into all the hows, whys, and whens, if y’all are looking for your next cop, you must know that Nike’s Grey Gum Dunks and Jordan 5 UNC are dropping soon! And if you wanna stay up-to-date with all that’s happening in the industry, make sure to check out our blog!
Who Is Pharrell Williams, You Ask?
Pharrell Lanscilo Williams, born in 1973 in America, is a singer, record producer, songwriter, rapper, and fashion designer. That’s one heck of a long list! Now we’re curious about that CV of his. Must be more than a couple of pages long…
Okay peeps, let’s leave William’s CV alone now and give you a summary of his accomplishments up to this point! Well, to put it simply, Pharrell was a real teenage prodigy. And throughout his life, he earned over 10 Grammy Awards, Two Academy Award nominations, and a Golden Globe nomination!
Not only that, but Williams also got one long sneaker collab history list. Being the top-notch he is, directed the spotlight toward him. And of course, Nike doesn’t let no opportunities slip through its fingers. Pharrell Williams and his N.E.R.D. bandmates were the shit in pop culture at some point and Nike took notice of that. So, in short, the Swoosh struck that deal back in 2004. Following this, Pharrell Williams collaborated with Reebok. In 2006, the rapper signed a deal with Bape. 6 years forward, a Pharrell Williams x BEE Line x Timberland happened. How could Williams wrap his head around all of that, we got no idea! But he ain’t called a prodigy for nothing you know! Anyway, in 2014 Williams seemed to settle down with Adidas as he struck a long-term deal with the label.
But wait a sec fam. You feeling that sense of déjà vu we been hit with just now? It’s like we’re talking about Kanye West’s timeline. From Nike to Bape, then Adidas… well, we sure as shit hope things don’t end the same way!
Find Out What The New Pharrell Williams Louis Vuitton Position Is About
So, it’s been 14 months without a Menswear Creative Director for Louis Vuitton. The luxury brand didn’t assign anyone to take on that position since the renowned Virgil Abloh passed away in November 2021. But now LV didn’t search far for another creative mind to fill the place. And who’s a better replacement other than Abloh’s lifelong supporter and friend, Pharrell Williams!
After months of speculation, an Instagram post by Louis Vuitton confirmed the news as they wrote: “Louis Vuitton is delighted to welcome Pharrell Williams as its new Men’s Creative Director.” The brand also revealed that “His first collection for Louis Vuitton will be revealed next June during Men’s Fashion Week in Paris.”
What you probably don’t know is that Louis Vuitton already collaborated with Pharrell more than once between 2004 and 2008. “I am glad to welcome Pharrell back home, after our collaborations in 2004 and 2008 for Louis Vuitton, as our new Men’s Artistic Director. His creative vision beyond fashion will undoubtedly lead Louis Vuitton towards a new and very exciting chapter,” is what LV’s chairman and CEO said in a statement!
Does This Affect Adidas’ Collab With Pharrell?
Boyy, do we have so much to say about this collab! Y’all must know that this ain’t Pharrell’s first try dealing with a high-end brand. In fact, his Chanel collab is now flipping for an average of $2,752! Not only that, but his Adidas Human Race NMD Pharrell x Chanel collab is worth an average of $5,303 on the aftermarket! So, this Pharrell Williams Louis Vuitton collab might get a chance after all! This brings us to the real talk! Do we expect an Adidas collabortaion soon? A Pharrell Adidas x Louis Vuitton collab does sound rich as heck!
So, as we mentioned above, Adidas can’t take additional blows anymore. You can say that it’s at its limits and it only needs a tick to officially break down! There’s something we’re wondering about though. If the above possibility of an Adidas collab didn’t come true, will Pharrell be the multitasker he always was and balance between being a Louis Vuitton’s Men’s Creative Director and the Three Stripe’s long-term partner? Or will Adidas start feeling the burn and plan on getting Ye back? Guess all we can do is wait and see! Till next time fam!
