Although this partnership just peaked in 2024, it goes way back and features some amazing releases. In March 2014, Nigel Sylvester collaborated with Nike SB to release the Dunk High S.O.M.P., marking the first time Nike SB teamed up with a BMX rider to redesign this iconic sneaker. Then in August 2018, Sylvester made history, AGAIN, as the first BMX athlete to collaborate with the Jordan brand. Releasing a signature Air Jordan 1. This design featured scuff marks, reflecting the wear from his unique riding style, which notably lacks bicycle brakes.
The partnership continued to flourish, leading up to what I consider one of the biggest drops of 2024. The Air Jordan 4 RM “Grandma’s Driveaway” was one of the most hyped and profitable releases last year. This design was inspired by Sylvester’s memories of riding a tricycle in his grandmother’s driveway. Featuring ‘Pro Green’ suede to reflect the fence of Sylvester’s grandma’s driveway where he first fell in love with BMX. Given the silhouette, resemblance to an iconic pair, and the fact that Nigel Sylvester’s old drops were all a hit! But that’s all just me, clearly I have a thing for kicks that stand out!
