Jordan MVP “Raptors”: The Offspring of MJ’s First 3-Peat Sneakers
The Jordan MVP “Raptors” combines elements from 3 of Michael Jordan’s legendary sneakers: AJ6, AJ7, and AJ8. Tinker Hatfield designed all three creations, celebrating the shoes MJ wore
during his first three-peat from 91-93. That’s when Jordan won his first NBA title with the Bulls in 1991 and followed that achievement with titles in 1992 and 1993, securing a three-peat. We’re talking about his victories over LA Lakers, Portland Trail Blazers, and Phoenix Suns, respectively.
Get a first look at the Air Jordan MVP Raptors hybrid inspired by the 90s. For starters, the sole unit recalls the AJ6, while the tongue rips that of the AJ7— the AJ8 is then referenced along the heel in both the fixture itself as well as the multi-colored overlay.
The Toronto Raptors inspired this silhouette, and it definitely has a lot to offer. The colorway is reminiscent of the Canadian basketball team’s typical black, red, and purple makeup. Firstly Black suede covers the uppers, while Purple and Red contrast other parts with a distinct glow. This appears on the midsoles, tongues, sock linings, and even the overlay near the back of the shoe. A signature icy outsole underneath completes the brand-new design. Finishing markers include the Jumpman embroidery on the lateral ankle and the “Nike Air” branding on the heels. Not to mention the “23” embroidery on the inner heels, paying homage to MJ’s magic number with the Chicago Bulls.
Jordan MVP Raptors Release Deets
Although we do not yet have a confirmed release date for the Jordan MVP Raptors, we do know there are a bunch of other colorways in hiding— some of which are “Shy Pink”, “Desert Sand”, and “Black Varsity Royal”. The model will retail for a nice $165 price tag at, you guessed it, Nike SNKRS and other select Jordan retailers.
