The Return of 2009’s Toro: Air Jordan 5 Raging Bulls [April 2021]
A long-awaited non-OG return is coming up soon. In 2009, the brand dropped its Jordan 5 Raging Bulls Pack, which included two colorways of the Air Jordan 5 paying tribute to Michael Jordan and his old times with the Bulls. We can’t believe these came out 12 years ago. Feels like yesterday. That was one of the last best DMPs.
We’ve had enough of Nike pastels for the jolly Easter season. Onto the summer heats now! Nike’s red suede Jordan 5 Raging Bulls from 2009’s “Defining Moments” pack — also known as the “Toro” — is finally dropping next week. Will we be copping the other all-black pair, too? No news on that, just yet. But nothing is stealing the spotlight from the lovely Reds for now.
Drop of the Jordan 5 Raging Bulls [2021]
If you’re a true sneakerhead, you sure know that non-OG iterations usually have a harder time growing on us Jordan freaks when we compare them to OGs. But this definitely wasn’t the case when the Jordan 5 Raging Bull hit stores in 2009. The shoe was an immediate hit that became one of the most wanted non-OG colorways, EVER! The red Toro was the shit, and we’re expect it to still be!
As we hope 2021 will be a fairly better year for all of us, we are blessed to start it off with the first-ever re-release of the Air Jordan 5 Raging Bull. This pair is arriving on April 10, with a $190 USD retail price.
How True Is This “Toro” Going to Be?
If your 90s-old Jordan head missed out on this baby, you better get it right this time. This awesome comeback is staying truer than true to the ’09 version.
Almost everything is staying intact with this pair: the premium red suede upper, fixtures, and the catchy reflective detailing. Of course, the dipped-in-red suede look is what gives the shoe its moniker. The #23 is still stamping those heels in the most minimal way with its embroidery matching its background of red suede. We love barely-theres. Black Jumpman branding hits the heel and silver tongue, aka 3M reflective material, ready to flash at us, once again. Lace toggles, also staying true, are treated with a translucent and red plastic finish.
A cooling touch is added through black eye stays and translucent midfoot netting and throats. Elsewhere, another Jumpman insignia appears on the icy blue outsoles with blacked-out midsoles, the only divergence from the OG pair, which used plain translucent outsoles. A final callback to the dope original strikes again with a wood-board printed shoebox.
Raging Bulls: Lucky Once, Lucky Twice!
As true as this drop is staying to the Retro in appearance, these Raging Bulls won’t be true to 2009’s price tag. What does that mean? Twice the luck, this time around, you won’t have to buy a double pack, because the Jordan 5 Raging Bulls will be sold individually. Thank God! It’s not too late to grab Valentine’s gift from you to yourself with these Red Retros. You sure deserve this generous initiative, nice and clean!
