Nike’s Dunk Clot Fragment Celebrates Clot’s 20th Anniversary
Nike’s Dunk Clot Fragment is almost at our fingertips after months and months of nothing but leaks and rumors. As it turns out the Nike Cortez x Clot isn’t their only collab of 2023 after all. A special three-way collaboration adds Hiroshi Fujiwara’s Fragment design in celebration of the Hong Kong streetwear boutique’s massive 20th anniversary.
Founder and Creative Director Edison Chen and long-time collaborator and friend Hiroshi Fujiwara came together for this special take on the Nike Dunk. The design serves as a marker of the strong bond between the two. “It’s never really a collaboration, it’s a conversation,” said Fujiwara. “We don’t have any middle person, even when we do Nike. Just me and him, that’s really easy.
The sneaker draws from Hiroshi Fujiwara’s favorite Clot shoe of the last two decades, the Clot Nike Silk Air Force 1 or “White Silk” release from 2018. The Dunk Clot Fragment features an all-white silk upper patterned with Clot’s iconic Silk Royale.
The Striking Dunk Clot Fragment
The Nike Dunk Clot Fragment sneaker centers around a simple Black & White colorway. The star of the show being Clot’s beloved Silk Royale pattern. Tied to the label’s previous Nike collaborations, we fell in love with that pattern in 2020’s Clot Air Force 1 Rose Gold. The Swoosh is finely stitched across the sneaker’s sides. They meet around the back at an embroidered “CLOT” on the left heel and “FRGMT” on the right. This co-branded detailing extends towards the custom insoles, and all of this sits on top of an icy white midsole specifically engineered to dominate on the court. Finally, a limited edition shoebox decorated with a special design packs the special shoes.
Already, we can easily set this sneaker on the list of Nike’s most iconic collabs. Not only does it combine two streetwear prodigies, but it’s also a Dunk! The Dunk has been around since the ‘80s, but 2020 witnessed the renaissance we didn’t know we needed. Now, every sneakerhead sees it as one of Nike’s most popular silhouettes ever. We can all agree, as we’ve all rushed to grab our own pair of ‘Pandas’. You know they sell out literally as they drop. (Here’s a guide on how to tell if they’re fake).
Cop ‘Em For Retail
The coveted sneakers have already dropped last May 19th via raffle on the Juice Store App. But for a wider release, look for the Dunk Clot Fragment to drop this Friday, June 14th on Nike SNKRS for $150.
