Tom Sachs And Nike: Back Together After A Drama-Fueled Break!

 In News, Nike

Yeah, there have been lots of changes in the world of swoosh recently which are quite CRAZY. While Nike’s new CEO has put the pedal to the metal and stocks are soaring, the brand just reported a 10% revenue decline for FY25 Q1! Seriously, someone, explain, please!  In the middle of all this chaos, Nike goes and blindsides us with the Tom Sachs Nike reunion!

Oh my god, it’s officially going to happen! This collaboration was stopped back in May of 2023 due to claims of inappropriate behavior towards his studio personnel by Sachs. But hey, it looks like Nike is all about second chances—unlike Adidas, who left Kanye hanging with no second thoughts! So, Tom Sachs and Nike resuming their partnership is news we CAN’T miss! So, what releases are we gonna see? And could this move help revive the Swoosh?tom-sachs-nike

Tom Sacks And Nike: Let’s Go Back to Where It All Stopped

Basically,  Tom Sachs and Nike first teamed up in 2012 and have dropped some serious heat over the past decade. We’re talking about iconic kicks like the original $7,669 Mars Yard in 2012, the $4,407 Mars Yard 2.0 in 2017, the Mars Yard Overshoe in 2018, and the General Purpose Shoe in 2022. Plus, a bunch of unreleased samples and even custom Cole Haan wingtips!

But then, in May 2023, everything changed. The partnership hit pause after a bombshell article from Curbed exposed some wild stuff happening in Sachs’ studio. His infamous “10 Bullets” rules were brutal, and reports of him screaming, throwing things, and making some seriously inappropriate jokes—like about a “rape room”—came to light. Not to mention, he even appeared on video calls in his underwear!

Now, Nike and Tom Sacks have officially confirmed they’re back in business, despite those heavy allegations from his former employees.

Tom Sachs Nike partnership

But here’s the thing: Nike has a bit of a track record when it comes to controversial partnerships. Remember when Travis Scott’s Astroworld festival ended in tragedy back in November 2021? Nike took a six-month break with him, then came back with some fresh Air Max 1 and Air Trainer 1 designs in May 2022, rebranding them as “CACT.US CORP” collaborations and giving a nod to “Cactus Jack” instead of directly using his name. Plus, Scott donated some of the profits to his Project HEAL initiative.

So, yeah, Nike seems pretty tolerant when it comes to partnerships! Now the big question is: what projects are Tom Sachs and Nike cooking up for 2025?
